S.C.I. Plywood Company was founded in May of 1955 by Matthew and Roseanne Scibior along with Matthew's brothers Henry Scibior and Frank Scibior. They started doing business in the New York Central Freight House in Whitesboro, NY. At this time, the use of plywood was starting to emerge as a major component in home building. Matthew decided to specialize in plywood and the business prospered as they supplied the fast growing housing market in the area.
In 1959, S.C.I. settled at its current location in New York Mills which was ideally situated on a railroad siding. As the market continued to grow with many different forms and uses of plywood being developed, so did the business. The original warehouse was expanded twice to its present size of 27,000 square feet. In 1984, Matthew and Henry's sons joined the business and established a partnership. Together, Richard and Robert Scibior later formed a limited liability company doing business as S.C.I. Plywood Company LLC. In 2001, Richard's son Daryl joined the business and Robert's son, John, joined in 2015 establishing the third generation of the business. S.C.I. Plywood Company now supplies products to homeowners, contractors, cabinet shops, industrial accounts, lumber yards, home centers, major retailers and major wholesales. We stock over 150 different types of domestic and imported wood panel products and service much of New York State within a 100 mile radius. |
